14,267ft... Torrey's Peak

Here are photos of the mountain Pat, McGee, and I hiked this weekend. It was a sketchy, but incredibly beautiful and fun hike! We did Gray's Peak after Torrey's which actually had a defined trail that you could walk up, and not crawl like on Torrey's. The bottom pic is the second half of the trail, and the way we took up to the top. The top picture is of the "knife edge" that we sat across and straddled to scoot our way onward!
These pics are from the internet, not actually from my camera...safe and fun time!

A mother always dreams of her daughter riding a bike or climbing up this kind of terrain! You wonder why I worry? Looks like one hell of a long ways up. How long did it take you????

Yeah, you get down from there RIGHT NOW! I hope you were wearing your helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, etc. Why don't I recall you being this insane when we were little? Are you rebelling? Is this your way of crying out for help? Do you hear voices? JK. I know there is this sick and twisted high that only people in your climbing world can understand, and for that reason, I suppose this behavior is ok. I can handle strenuous hikes, but when it comes down to a rope, a mountain cliff, and my life, I have a bit of a problem with that. I just ask that you are careful (and that if I get brave enough someday, that you'll teach me a thing or two).

Good one Kelli the mattress thing is probably where she got these crazy ideas it looks a lot farther down the bigger you get or any way you fall harder!!

Ok MomSSS...let me tell you that we are totally safe, and that I didn't expect such a reaction. I was anticipating a "Wow, that is sooo cool.", or a "Awesome, next time I am out there we are hiking that!". Come on now, I think that the picture looks more intimidating than it really was...thank God I have health insurance now. Pat and I are going to go take real risks-like solo climbing (that is without a rope-just you and the rock. You fall=you DIE!)...

Just kidding. Now hiking up rocky mountains and climbing with ropes and gear sounds totally sane and safe, huh! Reverse psychology! Kelli, I have always been rebellious and crazy...what are you thinking? I think you would absolutely love hiking a 14er and will someday when you are out here. Usually is is just a super strenuous hike-this one was more of a hike/climb!

Just what a Mom wants to hear just because you have insurance is not the time to be a risk taker! The Blue Angels are flying over the house today there is an air show tomorrow they are so loud and low!! You have to admit the picture is a little awesome!!!

I was just trying to give you guys a heart attack...I will be just as careful as I was before. There is no way I would climb without ropes, etc. I can't wait to get a gold blingged out crown now that I have insurance!
